Mitten Weather??? Some wish it...so let it be so...

Who here has had 100+ degree temperatures consistently this past month?  Anyone else digging all the Holiday action we have going on here? If you can't stand the heat, I say get inside and scrap something cool and delightful.  If Halloween's your thing, Patti has been creating some way cute items with Graphic 45's Alice in Wonderland Kit.  If you're a Christmas crafter instead, I have the new Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather for you.  We have two options for you in the store.  We have the Mitten Weather paper line or if you like matching embellies without the headache of picking them out, try the Mitten Weather Deluxe Kit

Here is project numero uno with the kit.  Aren't you digging the splash of purple?  It's such a nice addition to the standard red and green of Christmas.  It makes for a nice fluctuation between Christmas layouts or Wintry layouts.  Here is picked a little of both and grabbed these pictures of my youngest in her Christmas outfit from last year.  These turned out to be my favorite pictures of the whole season because I think she looks like a porcelain Winter Angel.

I used the Martha Stewart Layered Arches for the red edging to give the color splash.  I picked up one of my border stamps and stamped around the border to give my layout a frame and then added some Ruby Red Liquid Pearls in between the arches for color.  Now how often do you get to use Tinsel Garland on your layouts?

We can't wait to see what Holiday creations you are making.  Post a link in our comments section so we can be sure to check it out.

Halloween in Wonderland ~ Spellbinding

Graphic 45 has cast a spell on me with this amazing line of magial papers!  Tammy has bound the spell even further by putting together the Halloween in Wonderland~ Deluxe Scrapbook Kit!  I actually had to call my daughter in to make me cut into the first sheet of paper.  Seriously - I just wanted to save it all!  But how could I, Right?  So for my first projects from this enchanting kit I had to go with the Mad Hatter theme.

I used the Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge and my Gypsy to weld two "top hats" together to cut out the base of this card.  The sheet of playing cards in this kit are so much fun and I used one to tuck in the ribbon hat band .

Here is a view from the side so you can see how it opens and all the dimension this fun card has.

Here's another one but on a 5.75 by 5.75 card.   I love how the rabbit is looking at his watch on this playing card.  It goes perfectly with the sentiment on the inside...

See what I mean.  I have a stamp set that says this but the greeting looked so small on this big card. Instead, I made a rubon with my inkjet printer and a transparency sheet.  Stay tuned for more projects with this amazing paper!

Steampunk Debutante

I just knew I would love this line by Graphic 45 as soon as I heard the name. I was delighted when the order came in and saw that the devine colors and images exceeded my expectations.
The colors were perfect for a layout I had been wanting to do with my daughter's horse riding pictures.
I was able to complete this fun collage using items found in this Deluxe Kit. The mini frames were perfect for focusing on a few of the smaller images that otherwise would have been lost in the larger photo.

Have a great week!

Tammy

Paper flowers everywhere!

Don't you just love the paper flower trend right now? What a great way to use up those scraps leftover from your projects. I found this paper flower technique on Cosmo Cricket's blog.

I didn't use the watercolors but did use an ink pad on the edges and then gave them a little sparkle with some stickles.
This was all found in the Basic Grey Max and Whiskers Deluxe Kit. The flowers were a fun addition to this layout.

Have you done any of the paper flowers? If so please share a link with us... we'd love to see them!

So Earthy, Basic Grey Origins

When I opened up this Basic Grey~Origins~ 11pc Scrapbook Paper Kit, all I could think of was earth & vegetables. Anyone that knows me, knows that I don't garden, but I know someone that does! My favorite thing to come out of my mother-in-laws garden is her pickles.  Everyone who eats them loves them, so cold and crunchy and delicious.  My children are no exception and their addiction to grandma's pickles started early.

This is a pretty simple layout, but this beautiful paper carries it perfectly!  I think the thing that I adores about Basic Grey is the  slightly distressed look of alll of their papers.  It makes you want to grab your ink pads and go a little nuts!

As you you all know, I love my Cricut, but I am in love with my Gypsy!  I used the Lyrical Letters cartridge for the title.  I did not have a pickle on any of the cartridges that I own, so I created one of my own using George and Basic shapes.  This pickle is made with a series of circles and ovals all welded together and cut twice.  I clipped the stem off one and ran it through the Cuttlebug for texture.  It is pop dotted for more texture.

My husband loved to give the children rides on the garden tractor. ( I've got pictures of each ones first ride).  How perfect is this paper for these pictures?

The tractor is cut from the Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge cut three times and trimmed and layered to resemble the tractor in the picures.  The accents under the cream colored journaling tag are just punched circles from bits left over from the first layout.  I think the thing that ties everything together with Basic Grey paper is  taking the extra step of inking all cut edges with a little Time Holtz Walnut Ink!

Basic Grey Capella - A bright Star!

I am a a huge fan of Wikipedia and it says that "Capella is the sixth brightest star in the night sky." Well I think that Capella is one of the brightest stars in the Basic Grey line. The Cappella~ Deluxe Scrapbook Kit~ KOTM is simply lovely.  I Ilove the muted and diverse colors in this kit and the embellishments?  Forgetaboutit!

When my oldest got Chicken Pox, she got them pretty bad! Whenever she saw this picture in the photo album she would say, "Baby got the Chicken Pops". So there you go, the perfect title  which is cut from the Cricut Storybook Cartridge.

Don't you just love this adorable chicken cut at 6 inches from the Cricut Animal Kingdom cartridge? I added a big distressed bow to dress her up a bit!

The photo mat is pop dotted on three sides so this journaling tag can slide right in. Don't tell anyone, but it is actually some leftover packaging from some prima flowers I got at Lil' Lambs. I finished off the other side with some matching bazzil and added the tab cut from the Cricut Fabulous Finds cartridge. I am a frugal scrapper and if I think I might be able to use packaging on a page, I keep it!

Can you believe that this layout is from the same kit?  Such a different feel with the black base.  This title is cut from the Hannah Montana cartridge and welded together with my Gypsy.

These circles are punched at 1.5 inches out of the bits and pieces left over from both layouts.  The flowers were originally gold.  I wanted to include silver in this layout, so I saturated the flowers with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz.  It is hard to see here but the original gold color shows through in places - so pretty.  I also used some Ranger Stickles - Icicle all over this layout!  Love me some bling.

The journaling tag is one I had lying around from Fancy Pants.  I trimmed it to an oval shape, then placed the amazing Prima Say It in Pearls Corner on top.  If you haven't tried these beautiful stick ons, you are really missing out.  They make any layout really special.

And with the left overs I made this card.  The monogram is from  Fancy Pants. A super simple thank you for a very special sister in law.

Curiouser and curiouser...

I'm alway curious to see what Tim Holtz is up to. So I was curious when he said he was coming out with another diecut machine. I think you will have to agree that this one will not disappoint- check it out! We have these available for preorder now but they will not ship until October

Have a great weekend!
