Fun Summer Colors - Basic Grey Green at Heart

Have you ever opened a pack of paper and  an image immediately pops in to your head?   This is exactly what happened when I received BasicGrey~ Green at Heart~ Deluxe Scrapbook Kit~ KOTM . The sherberty orange color just screamed popsicle to me!  So this was my very first creation.

Just llike Cheryl said in the previous post, Basic Grey and JustRight stamps are a match made in heaven.  I love the ability to mix and match the frames and verses with different color inks.  Because the acrylic blocks are clear, they are also incredibly easy to line up.  I used the just right stamps on all of my projects today.  On this 5.75" x 5.75" card I used the Cricut Doodlecharms Cartridge to cut the popsicle at 3".  Some checked ribbon, three crystals and a bit of stickles make this card pop!

The large sentiments in the JustRite~ Cherish the Memories Nested Sentiments Set; Verse make the perfect scrapbook titles.  This page uses the beautiful ribbon and flowers included with this great kit.  I am a fan of quick and easy scrapbook pages so I used my favorite EK punch "Threading Water" and a few buttons from my stash to finish off this page.

This A4 card is probably one of my favorites I've ever made.  I cut the flower pot twice from the Cricut Walk In My Garden at two inches.  Then I cut the "rim" of the pot off one, inked both pieces and pop dotted the rim to give it the illusion of a real pot. I cut three strips of card stock about 2 inches by 1/2 inches, and glued them all together to creat a "stiff stem" to hold the Prima Rose upright so when you open the card ...

and tuck it behind the pop dotted strip and sentiment, it sits up like a perfectly blooming rose!

For this last card I cut five flower shapes, starting at 3.5 inches and getting smaller by 1/2 inch, out of white cardstock.  I saturated each one with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Chalk Board Banana Pudding.  This stuff has a beautiful chalky finish with the finest glitter I have ever seen.  The look is amazing.  After I soaking them good, I crumpled them up and let them sit for about 10 minutes.  I un-rumpled them, layered them and hit them with a heat gun to "set" the shape.  A large brad holds it together.

Don't you just love the the beautiful colors in this kit.

Basic Grey~ Nook and Pantry

I just love food themed paper ~ it's so easy to be "punny" with it!  That's just what I did with the Basic Grey~ Nook and Pantry Scrapbook paper kit.  I paired it with cuts from the Cricut Preserves cartridge and some Prima Flowers.

The photo is double matted and pop dotted on to a 10.5" pear cut on the "pear tart" paper from the Preserves cartridge.  I inked the edges with brown to make it stand out from the background.  A big white Prima, a button and a bow of brown organdy ribbon make this pear super cute!

The smaller pear is cut from scraps of Bazzil & Bo Bunny at 4.5 inches.  I added some white Primas and buttons to balance the bottom of the layout.

To finish off the layout, I cut the title at 1.5 inches and layered the word "pear" to make it pop.  I added a tiny brown brad and prima flower just for fun.  The faux stitching (white gel pen) adds additional interest.

This layout has huge impact with very little time invested.  Kits are the key to super easy layouts because all the matching is done for you.

Our First Card Kit!!

Woo Hoo! I love to make cards, and was so happy that Tammy decided to have a card kit! This is a great mix of green, blues and browns, plus two cool little stamps and some yummy extras: Pom poms, Prima flowers, ribbon, buttons, Bazzill cards and envelopes and some a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e paper with the ever popular owls and raccoons. Papers are by Prima and Bazzill. This kit includes enough to make 5 cards with some extra left over! Here are some ideas I came up for this kit...I used the pom-poms as the butterfly's body! I cut the shapes with my Spellbinders dies. So much fun!

New Scribble Scrabble Gable Gift Box Mini Kit

Just look at all of the yummy goodness that comes with this kit!

This paper by Scribble Scrabble is just so darn cute. I love the vintage look to it and the wonderful colors. I fell in love with the little cherries! Here's the next "box" mini kit, this time a gable box! I thought it would be perfect to put some brownies in for some new neighbors! So I did a SUPER SIMPLE design for the box and a quick easy card. I promise, anyone can make this!

Start by using the box as your template, cut the sizes smaller than the side you are covering, then round the edges (I used a punch for this). Using my SpellBinder die, I cut a hole for the window, then cut a coordinating frame. I attached the flowers and brads...instant cute! I tied the top with the red tulle, then added a little tag. Last, I made a simple little card.

You will be the hit of the neighborhood if you bring these to a new neighbor...or teacher gift...birthday of someone special...just endless possibilities!

With my scraps, I made two more cards!

Cupcake Box Mini Kit ~My Little Shoebox~

Cupcakes just make you smile, don't they?? You are instantly transported back to being 6 years old...when the world is perfect when there is a cupcake sitting in front of you! Here's a way that you can bring that smile to someone's face...imagine that smile when they find this little surprise waiting for them?? In this kit you get everything you need to personalize two cupcake boxes (with the specially made insert to hold the cupcake in place), two blank cards and envelopes, and the cutest little cupcake stamp. The paper by My Little Shoebox is bright and cheerful, and you will recieve 4 sheets of patterned paper, 2 sheets of Bazzill cardstock, ribbon, tulle, a "frosting" die cut, some Prima hydrangea flowers and a clear cupcake stamp.

Unfortunatly, my adorable cupcake prop does not come with this set...but is it not the cutest thing ever??

I loved the butterflies and cut them out to have them "fluttering" all over the box. For the flower on top of the box, I cut out several flowers from the paper, spritzed them with Glimmer Mist and rolled the edges up. When it dried, I attached my cupcake circle (which I cut with my Spellbinder die) to a heavy gauge wire, then held it in place with a button and lots of glue :-). I also spritzed my "frosting" die cut with Bubble Gum pink Glimmer mist and attached it to my envelope. Finally, I embellished the stamped cupcake images with Stickles and Glimmer Mist to make them shine. Ya gotta have some bling!

Okay, I know you are going to ask so I'll go ahead and tell you.... that most adorable cupcake was made by Valerie in the IOPG design group. Keep an eye on her auctions- she may be selling these beauties soon! Wouldn't they be the perfect addition to your kit?

I can't wait to see what you guys can create with this kit!

Fancy Pants Artic Chill ~Suspended Snowflake Card~

I have been playing with acrylic sheets recently, and wanted to make a card where you could "peek" through to the inside paper. So, I got the idea to "suspend" a snowflake in the middle of the widow! Here is how I did it!!

I love using these "non-traditional" colors for Winter projects. Purple and pale green for Christmas? Sure! Especially when it is as amazing as this Fancy Pants Artic Chill paper. So, first I gathered my paper and decided what image I wanted on the inside...and what area I wanted to peek through.

I gathered my Glimmer Mist, cut one snowflake from white Bazzill paper, then several from the matching front paper of the card. I covered the snowflakes with Glimmer Mist, then set aside to dry. I cut two large acrylic circles using my Sizzix circle die. The circles need to be larger than the image you are suspending!

I then gathered the rest of my supplies, ink, another smaller circle punch that just fit my snowflake image, and a basic white card.

I cut the Title Strips apart to use as accent pieces, then I cut my paper to the size of the card, keeping in mind the area of the inside paper I wanted to highlight with the window.

Then I lined the papers up how they would eventually be glued in the card so I knew where to punch my front circle.

Keeping the paper aligned, I punched my front circle.

Here's the paper on the card...

Next, I punched the card itself...and also lined up my inside paper and punched it too (this will cover the acrylic window from the inside).

Now that you have your circles all cut and lined up, we need to make the window!! Your snowflake should be all dry now, if not, hit it with your heat gun for a few seconds. I put a tiny glue dot on the center of the snowflake and placed it in the center of one of the acrylic circles. I then created a snowflake sandwich and attached the two pieces of acrylic with glue dots, keeping the glue dots as close to the edge as possible. Then I attached the completed window to the card using even more glue dots! Lots of dots, but you want it to hold!

Next I inked all of my papers, distressed the edges and attached to the card.

I added my Title Strips, aligning and cutting them with the same circle punch I used on the paper and card, then inked the edges and attached with glue dots! Attached the snowflakes and added metal dots to the centers.

Here's how the card looks when opened, you get another view of the suspended snowflake and the beautiful paper.

Here's the final card, the last touch I did was to stamp a large snowflake with Glimmer Mist and Glimmer mask! Taa Daa! You're done!

It's not just for tutus....

Tulle- It's not new but now it's being used in new ways and is all the rage in scrapbooking! Bazzill just released tulle in 12 new colors and in 3 inch rolls making it easy and fun to use in all of your projects! Check out all of the different ways we've been able to use it... In this page made with Little Yellow Bicycle (Zach's Life) paper, I used it flat to add a neat texture that helps the monochromatic title pop and giving it a touch of color.

I used it here as an accent for the title which doesn't draw away from the gorgeous Fancy Pants Designs (All Fall) paper.

Use it for your small gifts and for a bow on your presents when you are in a pinch! Here I used it to wrap this Magical Reindeer Food packet. This was made using Basic Grey's new Christmas line (Wassail).

Use it for your photo mats....
allowing you to still see the picture but adding a fun and elegant touch as seen here using Fancy Pants Designs (Happy Holidays) paper.

The possibilities are endless! How will you use your new tulle??
